The catamaran that took us to the outer reef. Capacity 450+ and it was pretty full on the day we went out. Lots of really big trees on the 2km circular walking trail. Note the way the roots form to stabilise the tree in wet ground. Drying off quickly (in 33 degrees) after a lovely cooling swim. Water is glorious. Sparkling clean. Water is a bit cool so we'll just sit here. Gerda emerging from the very refreshing river water. A local, keen to participate in tourist picnic lunches. John and Emmi about to set off on the 2km rain forest circuit. A common sight in the Mossman Gorge rainforest. An excellent local watering hole, not far from our apartment. Probably no crocs, despite the warning, but certainly stingers at this time of year. A glorious first evening in the tropics. In a very comfortable minibus. Looking good. At Sydney airport. At Sydney airport. A very pleasant drive up the North Queensland coast. We stopped for a bit of sightseeing on the way. Spotted next to the walking trail in the Mossman Gorge rainforest. Our apartment in Port Douglas was 5 mins on foot from this beach. Water temperature a bracing 30 degrees! Two beautiful ladies in the forest. One of many giant figs in the Mossman Gorge rainforest. We will be back! No swimming today dear. We rented a 3 bedroom apartment. Excellent accommodation, 5 min walk to the beach, 10 min walk to town. Recommended. Out of season, and therefore blissfully quiet. One of the many spectacular large trees we passed on the forest walk. Highly recommended! On the walkway, heading to the swimming hole. Next to the beautiful clean Mossman river. Lovely clean fresh water. Ideal for swimming. No crocs this far up. After lunch on our last full day in Port Douglas. John and Gerda went for the 45 minute guided tour. Outstanding! Looking downstream. Ready to leave at sparrow's. One of the glass sided boats can be seen exploring a section of the reef. Relaxing by the complex pool. The shade sails had been removed in anticipation of cyclone Nathan which was expected the following day. Beautifully maintained gardens and walkways all round the apartment complex. Spectacular tropical plants everywhere. Lunch on the water.
